From Beloved to Forbidden

Harpa- Kaldalon Hall, Austurbakka 2, 101 Reykjavík

Robert Fuchs was the teacher of some of the most famous composers of the 20th century: Korngold, Sibelius, Zemlinsky, and Mahler. Though he was beloved by many during his lifetime in Vienna, his students’ music was banned just a generation later during the rise of the Nazi party.  We will play little-known compositions by both teacher and student.

Robert Fuchs: Selections from 12 Duette, Op. 60, for Violin and Viola
Robert Fuchs:  Terzetto for 2 violins and viola, Op 61, No. 2
Ernst Toch: Divertimento for Violin and Viola, Op. 37 No. 2

Special guest: Guðný Guðmundsdóttir, violin
