  • Friend, collaborator, and influence of Rauschenberg, John Cage is one of the most notable avant-garde composers of the 20th Century. According to Cage, music is “an affirmation of life – not an attempt to bring order out of chaos nor to suggest improvements in creation, but simply a way of waking up to the very life we’re living.” From 4’33” to prepared pianos and more, this concert explores the breadth of his oeuvre.

  • Robert Fuchs was the teacher of some of the most famous composers of the 20th century: Korngold, Sibelius, Zemlinsky, and Mahler. Though he was beloved by many during his lifetime in Vienna, his students’ music was banned just a generation later during the rise of the Nazi party.  We will play little-known compositions by both teacher and student.

Robert Fuchs: Selections from 12 Duette, Op. 60, for Violin and Viola
Robert Fuchs:  Terzetto for 2 violins and viola, Op 61, No. 2
